Peripheral Artery Disease

A silent disease killer, P.A.D. (Peripheral Arterial Disease), is gaining national attention as evidenced by the Friday, April 9th broadcast of The Doctors

Approximately ten million people have PAD and half of these people may be asymptomatic and unaware of their vascular condition – especially if these people have diabetes.  With one in three people with diabetics developing PAD, early and accurate vascular testing at any point-of-care is universally essential for the patient. One of the foremost diagnostic tools assisting in disease detection is the SensiLase System as discussed by Dr. Lee C. Rogers, chair of the Foot Care Council for the American Diabetes Association.

The SensiLase System rapidly assesses both the microcirculation (for distal artery blood flow) and macrocirculation (for presence and severity of arterial disease) providing accurate, early identification of PAD/CLI – even in diabetic patients.  Real perfusion data of the foot and toes is readily available whether:
•           Detecting PAD
•           Confirming revascularization procedures outcomes
•           Treating foot ulcers
•           Predicting wound healing

PAD medical management and/or treatment cannot begin until early and accurate disease detection is implemented. SensiLase® Studycast allows accurate identification of PAD/CLI and timely interpretation of patient test results to streamline patient therapy benefiting both diagnosing and treating physicians.
